Things I hate in Android
(and smartphones in general)
Caution: If you came here thinking this is one of the casual Android vs. iOS
bu**s***, I politely ask you to quit this page. Now!
Two things I really hate in the Android ecosystem that always let me
away from it. Namely:
-
There is no real security awareness even among system-level third-party
developers: One example to render my argument proved is that lots, and by lots I
mean a great percentage, of Android users are still using SuperSU (which is a
proprietary superuser access management utility)! And even worse, some
"high-class" developers in XDA Forums are still recommending it! One cannot be
sane and use a proprietary superuser manager in the same time. Sorry.
-
This obnoxious disclaimer: "
I'm not responsible for bricking your device blah
blah blah bullshit bullshit
." Who the fuck said you are?! Why am I seeing
that bullshit all the time in almost any Android-related system-level technical
guide on the web! I'm curious how everyone is gonna die laughing when they see a
such shitty disclaimer in a "How to install Apache web server on Ubuntu"-tier
article, like: Are you serious?!!
Given that Android is the most mainstream operating system, it is natural and
very expected that most of its users do not give a hard fuck about privacy and
freedom. But when I see so-called experts not caring about that; It's very bad!
Thankfully, the situation is getting better given that many folks are spreading
awareness about the nonfree swamp that the smartphone community as whole has
been diving in for a long time.
Alternatives
Just use freedom-centric operating systems like
PostmarketOS on freedom-centric
smartphone like: the Pinephone,
the Fairphone or
the Librem 5. Or more cruelly,
don't use a smartphone at all.
